FED UP!

I have now made a conscious decision to monitor what goes into my body, as well as what goes into my hair.

I will spend hours reading labels (for hair items). However, I will eat anything! Something about this picture is not right.

I am choosing to eat to live not LIVE TO EAT!

Each week, I will take a pic of what I look like, just so I can see the difference.

My Montage 4/15/10 at OneTrueMedia.com

When looking over the web, I always see natural girls in their 20's. I chose this vide to represent the ladies in my age group, 35+. Enjoy

My Montage 4/15/10 at OneTrueMedia.com

When looking on the web, I notice more natural in their teens and twenties. I wanted to do something to represent the ladies in my age group 35+. The last shot is of my mom a 60 year old natural.

My FRo

I have been way off with my regimine. Last night
  • co-washed with Herbal Essence Totally twisted.
  • applied Giovanni Triple Threat in the shower.
  • rinsed it out
  • Mixed together with avocado oil & Herbal Essence blue bottle
  • Left that on for 2 hours
Today my hair was so soft.

I want a big fro. I have two strand (dry twisted) then twisted again.

Inspiration..pictured below

January 11, 2009

Today, Nyla was free.

co-washed with Totally Twisted.
applied Giovanni Triple Threat and rinsed it out.
applied avocado oil to my wet hair.
applied Kinky Curly Curling Custard. Shingling was the method

Outcome:
Hair was very oily
Still not dry 6 hours later

This idea may need to be revisited
On a scale from 1- 10.

This is a 4.

Sunday Styling

For some reason ...I love to style my natural hair, even more than when it wasn't natural.

Today was an afro with bobby pins on the side. I guess, it just makes me feel like it is long, when Nyla is pulled back off my face.

Inspiration...There was none really- I got lazy. I didn't feel like combing through Nyla. I wet Nyla on the sides (with conditioner, castor oil and water)

Will twist up tonight and seal the ends with coconut oil! For some reason Nyla loves this stuff in the winter! Will have to retire in the summer! Go figure!!! ugh!!!

Also, made Maya's Mocha- Latte..Skin exfoliater with coffee scent! Looks like whipped chocolate cream! I don't like coffee but I love the smell of this!

Styling My Own Hair on a Saturday

Welcome to Nyla's Journal

Nyla is my hair.. Remember no 2 heads or hair are the same. I'm just sharing what works for me.

Here's todays style....I have been sporting a frohawk,using a banana clip!

Thanks 80's, you were AWESOME!

This look was achieved after doing DR AKBARI'S curly fro. Once, I woke up, I untwisted, applied gel to the edges, pulled up into a frohawk, sprayed entire head with a homemade concotion--Totally Twisted by Herbal Essence, water, and castor oil. For some reason, my hair hates olive oil in the winter and loves it in the summer. I have also found out, Nyla( my hair) hates coconut oil in the summer but loves it in the winter.
DUH- go figure.

This look, me likey, alot! Real simple and easy to do! I'm that kind of chick. Also the pic at the top of the page is copyrighted by Nyla Coils! Meaning yours truly!

Inspired by...

You tube inspiration..Kimmaytube. Please go to youtube and check her out. Also Kimmay has a website (www.kimmaytube.com). She ought to be a teacher or a dj. I mean just something where you can just listen to her talk! She puts alot into her channel and you can tell!!!
This chick is no amateur. The sound and audio are always awesome. I hate some channels because the person says UM, Like a million times or the sound is so bad - I feel like they are in a wind tunnel!

Things to Google. Meaning, I dont have it pictured here or linked:

Kimmaytube (can be found on youtube)
Herbal Essence Totally Twisted can be found in any drugstore
Banana Clip (I got mine from my Local Beauty Supply Store) 3/$1.00
Gel that was used was ECOstyler Gel ...Purchased from (Sally's for 2.99), I forget how many oz in container
